Presidential Candidates in Review

It was 1973 when 30-year-old Joe Biden was elected to the United States Senate as a representative from Delaware. His first major political stances included anti-abortion and anti-bussing laws.

It was also 1973 when 27-year-old Donald Trump made his first New York Times headline, which read, Major Landlord Accused of Antiblack Bias in City,” as he and his father were under fire for refusing to rent to Black individuals.

Biden and Trump may have walked different paths, controversial in their own ways, but both pointed to Washington in the end. Now, it is up to you as voters to decide who will take office in January. With so much controversy on each side, that can seem daunting if not flat-out discouraging.

While the choices you’ve been presented may feel disheartening, it is important to remain hopeful for and committed to the future of your country. Don’t let uncertainty about your stance on the next president overshadow the importance of voting on all levels.

State and local governments create real, tangible change, and while you may not love who you see running for president, your community needs your vote.

That being said, the President is kind of a big deal. To ease your mind and make things a little less overwhelming, we’ve compiled a timeline of important actions and events within each candidate’s political careers. You may not love either one [and if you don’t, you should consider voting for a third party or a write-in], but we hope to provide you with the evidence and information you need to guide you towards a decision you’re okay with.

  • Donald Trump
  • Joe Biden
  • Jo Jorgensen
